So I had a lot of fun this last weekend. July 5th and 6th was the first ever Big Bear Valley Victorian Festival. And, like I spend most of my time these days, I was there with the Belles of Bedlam. It was the fairs first year so it was really small. But the nice thing about small fairs, as a performer, is that you get to know the other performers pretty well. So here is a pick that the photographer there at the fair took for us. I apologize for the fuzziness of the pic, but it gives you a good idea of what we wore for the fair. Or rather…what the Ladies did no ware.

It was all about the corset shows for this fair. Which the girls were very grateful for, seeing July 4th in Big Bear California, is not cool by any stretch of the imagination.

OK so I’ve only had time to post one quick thing this month about a WordPress issue I’m having at work. I’ve been busy! Busy doing what?

Come see me and the Belles of Bedlam at the 50th annual Southern California Ren Fair. Order your tickets online and save!

Our group is doing four shows on Sat. and Sunday, each weekend, till the fair closes on May 18th. Come see our Family friendly stuff in the morning, but don’t bring the kids to our NC-17 shows on the Rouge’s Reef stage in the afternoon. This year the fair is under new ownership, so things are a bit different. Come on down to Irwindale and see what fun you can have. Just plug “15501 E. Arrow Highway, Irwindale, Ca 91706″ into Google Maps and to get directions.

Yet another shameless plug for my group:

The Belles of Bedlam will be making our next public appearance at the Riverside City Dickens Festival on February 1, 2, and 3rd. So come see us dressed in our Victorian Best, and play some songs that are actually family friendly. Last year was a lot of fun. It’s a small street style fair, with a queen, a piper regiment, and they fire a live cannon ever hour in the street.

If you love me, you’ll buy my CD!!!! November 14, 2007

Begin Shameless Plug

The Belles of Bedlam have release a new CD…FINALLY!!!!! It’s called Bootleg. This a live recording of the Bogfest XII. Sadly, neither my wife nor I were in the group at time this was recorded, but we were there. I remember that night fondly. You see, for those who are not connected to the RenFair culture of Southern California, Bogfest is held every year by the Poxy Boggards. The Boggards preform on the Naughty stage with us at the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Fair. Well, if you work at fair, you don’t have time to catch a majority of the music acts you want to see during the run of fair because you are working. The Boggards put on a show just for these kinds of fans, close to site each year, and make sure all the Fair workers know. Pack that many people into a bar, at the end of the day, after a day of Fair, and it can be really crazy because you’ve spent what little sanity you had during the day. Our group opened for The Boggards that year, after a long, hard, hot, day at fair. Oh, yeah, and did I mention there were adult beverages involved. And The Boggards were kind enough to capture it for us so we were able to preserver every naughty minuet of it all.

My wife worked on the Inside cover art and liner notes.

So keep your eye on CD Baby, and you will see our new CD avilable soon. And while you are there pick up a copy of “Who’s Your Sire” too!

End Shameless Plug

I am going to Shamelessly plug my own band. That’s right! It’s my blog and I’ll be self serving if I want to be :-).

The Bells of Bedlam will be appearing , both weekends, for the Big Bear City Renaissance Fair. Come and see us do what we do best, as we do all kinds of different shows these two weekends. We will be doing NC-17 shows, Kids shows (not at the same time), and family friendly music sets, on three different stages (again, not at the same time). All Proceeds from the fair go to benefit schools in Big Bear, and their fine arts programs. So come on out. Men, put your Kilts on. Women, strap on a sword. Kids, bring your pet dragons and fairies, and we will see you in Big Bear on August 11 & 12, and 18 & 19, (Saturdays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m to 6 p.m).

I have spent the past few days on my own. My wife is visiting family in North Carolina to celebrate her Grandmother’s 90th birthday. She left on Tuesday, and will be back on Tuesday. So I have been left to fend for myself. So what have I done with my time?

Watched a whole bunch of Marvel Comic movies that she would never want to watch.
Cleaned up the house a bit, because it needed to be done.
Did a little writing.
Helped build a Recording Studio for the Bells of Bedlam.

All in all it was a very full week. I’m still itching form the fiberglass insulation and acoustic paneling that we installed this weekend, but feel very proud of what I have accomplished. And I did it all by myself.

That having been said, I can’t wait till my wife comes back home. It will be nice to have the one I love back here with me.
